Murdha Taila is an Ayurvedic Therapy that literally means application of oil (Taila) on head (Murdha). In addition to those concerns listed above it is also beneficial in prevention of hair fall, breaking, graying, various diseases of head and increasing the efficiency of the organs of the head. Shiro-Basti is the Superior Form of Murdha Taila Therapy. Shiro-Basti uses a tall cap secured around the head with the top open. Warm medicated oils are poured into the cap and retained on the scalp crown point (vertex) for over 30 minutes. The therapeutic effects of herbal oils pass to the central and ANS through the brain. Several powerful medicinal herbs are specially formulated in preparing the herbal paste and oils. Also recommended for dry nose or mouth, sinusitis, and improved complexion. It is prescribed in cases involving loss of sensation of scalp. It provides relief from defective vision and cataracts, strengthens the voice, lower jaw and the head.
